2000 BCE Some of the earliest settlers were populated in the island of Meedhoo in Addu City
1941 Gan was an inhabited island until British Arrived in Addu
1941 British Royal Navy created a secret navel base in Gan Island in Addu City
1941 Gan Air strip was formed
1944 British Loyalty ship wrack happened after the German Topedo hit the ship
1959 United Suvadive Repoublic was formed
1957 The base turned over to the Royal Airforce and became RAF Gan Station
1963 United Suvadive Repoublic was dismantled
1971 The British departed from Gan
1976 The Britsh completely withdrew from Maldives
2011 17th SAARC summit was hosted by Addu City and neighboring Fuvahmulah
2019 Addu City Square was open
